ORIGIN AND GROWTH

His  Holiness Jagadguru Sankaracharya  of  Kanchi  Kamakoti  Mutt gave  a clarion call to start Hindu Convents to instil our cultural and traditional values among our students along with the  qualitative  education. Responding  to  this call, Vishva Hindu Vidya Kendra started a Hindu Convent on an experimental basis at West Mambalam in  the  year 1975. Started with Primary classes, it rose  to become a Higher Secondary by 1983. In the same year, the Kendra  also took over the management of National Higher Secondary School, now adopted by a silent  philanthropist, Sri  Jaigopal Garodia . Since  then ,the school  is  named after him  as Jaigopal Garodia National Higher Secondary School, Tambaram. By 1979 , the experiment at t he  above schools attracted  other areas to  start schools  at  Adambakkam,  Kanyakumari Dt.,   V.O.C. Dt., Nilgiri Dt., and  in  Ramanathapuram Dt. The timely offer of land from Royapuram   co-operative house building society to start the Adambakkam school while Sri S. J. POTHI, who retired  from U.N.O. donated  his  land (fourteen  grounds) for the further development of Adambakkam school. Sri. Jaigopal and Sri. G. K. Shetty came forward to  put  up  pucca  building  at  West Mambalam  and   Adambakkam respectively.

So also, The THIRUVAVADUTHURAI ADHEENAM gave on a long lease 2 acres of  land  at  Krishnan Koil, Nagercoil,  K.K. District  to  develop  Hindu Vidyalaya. Today with the untiring help of many, particularly by Sri.T.K.Sastri a well equipped building is built spaciously at  Krishnan Koil and  upgraded as Higher Secondary.

As the fragrance of the schools spread, the Kendra registered  their education wing as Vishva Hindu Vidya Kendra  in the year 1975 and extended their servic to Kanyakumari District, where schools were started at Nagercoil, Aralvaimozh Thuclay, Marthadam, Radhakrishna Puram, Ganapathi Puram, Nagercoil Town Karungal and  at  Bootha  Pandi. At  Srivaikundam  and  Coonoor  also  Matric schools  flowered  at  the same time. A boys hostel for  the  backward  children started  at Ramathapuram.

A Ved Patalasa at the foot of the Goddess Kanyakumari is yet another venture by  the  kendra  in  the  field of education. The service was also extended to the Palladam, Coimbatore.

QUALITATIVE - MANMAKING Education to  bring  out  EXCELLENCE  in MAN - is the prime goal of the Hindu Vidyalayas.

is  the motto of the Hindu Vidyalayas.  Hard work  and   healthy competitions among  the  students  is  encouraged  to achieve the best. Sport and yoga  are included to build strong body and mind.
 

FINE ARTS

Music, dance and teaching of Sanskrit add to the blending of traditional and cultural values and  mooring  in  our dharma. Eight   different  fine arts Flute, Bharathanatyam,  Music,  Mridagam, Violin, Tabla,  Harmonium,  Silabam, Drawing and Painting are offered from classes 6 to 12. Children are motivated to take part and excel in anyone of the activity.
